No fixed spawn, same as every key in the game. It is an uncommon roll, which makes it one of the two easiest Stella Montis keys to end up holding.
- Container types: residential furniture is what rolls keys. Wooden drawers, cabinets, suitcases, desks, and medical furniture all report drops.
- Dam Battlegrounds: Ruby Residence is the most commonly named spot, along with the upper floors of the Research and Administration building.
- Buried City: the apartment interiors, Grandioso Apartments included, and the houses east of the Abandoned Highway Camp.
- Stella Montis itself: general residential and office containers across the interior.
- Other raiders: an uncommon key is carried often enough that player kills are a real source.
No route forces this key to drop. The answer is container volume, not a specific building.
What it unlocks
One door, inside Medical Research on the west side of Stella Montis. Our map marks it in the west wing, above the Viewing Deck.
Navigate by landmark rather than by compass here, because guides describe the approach from different directions. The consistent tell is the part of the lab with several red lockers in the middle of the room and a stairwell nearby. The locked door sits across from the stairs. If you can see the red lockers and the stairwell, you are within a few steps of it.
One access tip: if a fuel cell door is blocking your way into the lab, guides report you can get in through a side entrance with your Raider Tool instead of solving the fuel cell.
A naming warning worth reading. This key and the Stella Montis Archives Key get confused constantly, and some item listings quote this key's description as "unlocks a door in the Archives in Stella Montis". That is the mix up, not the answer. Independent item databases list the Medical Storage Key as unlocking a door in Medical Research, and every location guide we cross checked puts the real door inside the Medical Research wing. If you are standing in the archives with this key, you are on the wrong side of the map.

Everything is randomly rolled and the container count is low, so this is the swingiest of the four Stella Montis key rooms. The upside is that the surrounding Medical Research wing loots well on its own, so the trip is not carried by the locked room alone.
The space is tight. If you like placing traps at the door, be careful, because there is not much room to get clear of your own blast.

Situational. This is the lowest ceiling of the four Stella Montis keys, and it is honest to say so.
Use it when you are already looting Medical Research, which you should be doing anyway. Use it on night raids, when loot tables roll higher and a small room is likelier to produce something worth the slot. Skip it if you are on the east side of the map with a full bag.
The one case where it punches above its rarity: you are low on healing items mid raid and you are near Medical Research. A room of medical consumables is worth far more in that moment than its raw value.
How keys work in Arc Raiders
The rules are short and they do not change from key to key.
- Single use. The key is consumed when you open the door. There is no reusable key in the game, so every door you open costs you the key that opened it.
- Lost on death. Anything outside your Safe Pocket goes to whoever kills you. Move a key into the Safe Pocket as soon as you loot it, not when you are already walking to the door.
- Rooms reset between raids. A locked room is locked again next raid, no matter who opened it last time. You are never too late.
- Containers and players are the sources. Cabinets, drawers, desks, and lockers roll keys, and other raiders carry them. Killing someone who was heading to a door is a perfectly good way to get the key for it.
One more thing that catches new raiders: the door does not care whether you are ready. Clear the area first, then open. Opening a locked room with a Shredder behind you burns the key and usually the run. Count your free inventory slots before you commit, because a key spent on a room you cannot carry out of is a key wasted.
