Short answer
Where to find it and where to use it
The key does not spawn on the towers. It is loose container loot and it can drop on any map, in any raid, from anything that rolls keys.
Search the small containers: desk drawers, bedside drawers, filing cabinets, lockers, toolboxes. Ammo crates and heavy industrial containers do not roll keys.
- Residential interiors give the best odds. High level apartment blocks and furnished rooms hold the densest drawer clusters.
- Named spots people actually pull it from include Pale Apartments and Ruby Residence on Dam Battlegrounds, and Grandioso Apartments on Buried City. All different maps from Spaceport, which is normal.
- Kill and loot. Raiders who have been clearing apartments are carrying keys. Check every backpack.
- Quest rewards. Celeste's questline hands this key out, and it also appears as a required item on the Turnabout quest. If you have that work open, you may already have one sitting in storage.
Because it is uncommon rather than rare, this key shows up more often than the Spaceport rare keys, so the two tower double run is realistic rather than theoretical.
What it unlocks
The in game description says it unlocks a door to the Trench Towers in Spaceport. That plural matters. There are two towers, North Trench Tower and South Trench Tower, sitting close together, and our map places a marker on each along the east side of The Trench in the northern half of the map. Community guides describe the same pair as sitting between the West Hangar and the East Hangar.
Both towers are built to the same pattern, so the key fits either one. What it does not do is open both. Each tower has locked doors on both sides and on both floors, but once you unlock any one of them you can open the rest of that tower from inside. So it is one key per tower, not one key per door.
Getting to the doors is its own small puzzle. A staircase underneath the tower leads down into the tunnels, and another runs up to the landing platform. You can also zipline across to the entrance. If the route is contested, the tunnel approach is the quieter one.
What is inside
The towers share a layout but not an identical loot table. Reported contents:
North Trench Tower
- A weapon box.
- Red valuables lockers and drawers.
- Breachable electronics boxes.
- A med case.
- A Security Breach locker.
- Loose electronic and mechanical spawns.
South Trench Tower
- A weapon box and a grenade case.
- Computer server towers.
- Red valuables lockers.
- Breachable computer and mechanical boxes.
- Drawers holding valuables and residential loot.
The base level carries most of the containers and drawers, with a good chance at epic rarity resources, while upstairs holds the weapon crate and smaller cases where epic and tier 4 weapons roll. The South Tower is generally the more lucrative of the two.
Player reports put a full clear of one tower around 30,000 to 40,000 coins, and both towers in one raid at over 100,000. Those are community figures, not a published table, and every room rolls fresh each raid.
Is it worth the detour
This is one of the better value runs on Spaceport, and it is the one we would send a newer raider to first.
Our database lists these rooms in the green loot zone, meaning the surrounding area is the calmer band of the map rather than the hot middle. You get a serious loot room without standing in the busiest square of the map to open it. That combination is exactly why uncommon green keys punch above their rarity.
The real threat here is not other raiders, it is the sky. A Rocketeer patrols the airspace around the towers, and you are exposed on the landing platforms and the ziplines. Deal with it before you start looting. Getting caught on an open platform with a full bag is how this run ends badly.
Run it when:
- You have one key and want a reliable, high value clear without a fight over the center of the map.
- You have two keys and time for both towers. Take the South Tower first if you can only finish one.
- You have bag space. Between weapon crates, lockers and server hardware, the towers fill a bag fast.
Hold off when a Rocketeer is already active overhead and you have nothing to answer it with.
How keys work in Arc Raiders
Four rules cover every key in the game.
- Single use. The key is consumed the moment the door opens.
- Lost on death unless it is in your Safe Pocket. Move it there immediately. It weighs almost nothing.
- Locked rooms reset between raids. Both towers restock, so this is a farmable route if you keep finding keys.
- Keys drop from containers and from players. Cabinets, drawers, desks and lockers roll them, and anyone you kill might be carrying one.
Always check whether a tower door is already standing open before you spend a key. If another squad beat you to it, the room is stripped, but your key is still yours.
Other keys on the Spaceport
- Spaceport Control Tower Key, rare, opens the ground floor door in Control Tower A6 that leads to the tower top.
- Spaceport Container Storage Key, rare, opens the top floor room at Container Storage east of Control Tower A6.
- Spaceport Warehouse Key, uncommon, opens the second floor room in the Shipping Warehouse.
- All Arc Raiders key locations, every key on every map in one list.
- Spaceport interactive map, with all four Spaceport key doors marked.
Frequently asked questions
- Where do you use the Spaceport Trench Tower Key?
- On either the North Trench Tower or the South Trench Tower on The Spaceport. Our map marks both, along the east side of The Trench in the northern half of the map. The towers share a layout, so the key fits either one.
- Does one key open both Trench Towers?
- No. One key opens one door. Once you are inside a tower you can open that tower's other doors from within, but the second tower needs a second key. Bring two if you want to clear both in a raid.
- Which Trench Tower is better?
- The South Trench Tower is generally the more lucrative. It holds a weapon box, a grenade case, server towers, red valuables lockers and breachable containers. If you only have one key and time for one tower, take the south one.
- Where does the Spaceport Trench Tower Key spawn?
- It is random container loot and drops on any map. Residential interiors are best, with Pale Apartments and Ruby Residence on Dam Battlegrounds and Grandioso Apartments on Buried City commonly reported. Celeste's questline also awards one.
- What is the biggest danger at the Trench Towers?
- A Rocketeer patrols the airspace around the towers, and the landing platforms and ziplines leave you exposed. Handle it or route around it before you start looting, not while your bag is open.
