Short answer

Where to find it and where to use it

There is no confirmed container that always holds this key. Every source we checked describes it the same way: scavenged. It comes out of searchable containers anywhere in a raid, usually desks and drawers in residential and office spaces, and off Raiders who found one first.

The one non-random route is the quest. The Groundbreaking quest sends you to this door, and completing that questline is a documented way to end up with the key in hand rather than waiting on a container roll. Two separate guides and the community wiki all tie this key to that quest.

The pin on the map above is the door, not the key. We could not verify any specific spawn container for this one, and we are not going to invent a farm route for it. Loot residential and office containers, check bodies, and carry it to Pilgrim's Peak when you get one.

What it unlocks

The in-game description is precise for once: "Unlocks a door by the Communication Tower near the Blue Gate."

The tower rises out of Pilgrim's Peak at the north-east end of the map, and it is visible from most of the northern half, so navigation is not the hard part. The door is one level down, inside the structure at the base.

Two ways in:

  1. From above. Climb to the high ground over the tower and ride the zipline down. This is the fast approach and it puts you at the base without crossing open ground on foot.
  2. From the south. Walk in at ground level and loop around the building until you reach the doors on the eastern side. Those are the ones you want regardless of which direction you approached from.

Once you are inside, stay on the right hand side of the hallway. The locked door is on the right, tucked along the eastern wall. If you find yourself in a wide open area you have gone too far.

What is inside

One room, and it is denser than it looks. The reported container set:

The community wiki lists it slightly differently: two to four server racks, one weapon box, two to three drawers, two to three resource crates and up to six loose items. Same room, different loot rolls, so expect that shape rather than an exact list.

One guide put a full clear at roughly 30,000 to 40,000 coins of profit, which is a fair benchmark for a good roll and not a guarantee.

The catch is the container type. A lot of the value here sits behind breachable lids rather than in open valuable drawers, and every breach costs you time and makes noise. Plan on standing still in one room for longer than you would like, in a POI that other squads also want.

Is it worth the detour

Yes if you are already working the north of the map. No if you are starting from the southern half with a heavy bag.

The honest framing is that this is a solid mid tier key room, not a jackpot. Compared with the Village building, which is uncommon rarity and opens four rooms, the Communication Tower room is a single room gated behind a rare key. Compared with the cellars, it is clearly better.

Where it earns its keep is the position. Pilgrim's Peak is high, the zipline gives you a fast entry, and Northern Gate Extract is close by, so a clean run is loot the room and leave. If you are running the Groundbreaking quest you are going there anyway, in which case the key is free value on top of quest progress.

Two risk notes. The tower is a landmark and a magnet, so assume other players know where you are while you breach cabinets. The zipline entry is also loud and visible, a fine trade for speed and a bad one if you wanted to be quiet.

How keys work in Arc Raiders

Four rules cover every key in the game:

  1. Single use. The key is consumed the moment the door opens. One key, one room, one raid.
  2. Lost on death. Go down carrying it and it goes with you. Move it to your Safe Pocket the second you find it.
  3. Rooms reset between raids. The loot rebuilds every raid, so the same door is worth opening again next run with a fresh key.
  4. Keys drop from containers and from players. Cabinets, drawers, desks and lockers are the source, and anyone you kill may already be carrying one.

That second rule matters more here than anywhere. Pilgrim's Peak is contested, and losing a rare key to a sniper on the approach is a common way to waste the run. Safe Pocket it before you start climbing.

Frequently asked questions

Where do you use the Blue Gate Communication Tower Key?
At the Communication Tower on Pilgrim's Peak, in the north-east of The Blue Gate. Go one level down inside the structure at the base, enter through the eastern doors, keep to the right of the hallway, and the locked door is on your right along the eastern wall.
How do you get to the Communication Tower room fastest?
Climb to the high ground above the tower and ride the zipline down. That drops you at the base without crossing open ground on foot. Coming in from the south on foot works too, just loop around until you reach the eastern doors.
Where does the Blue Gate Communication Tower Key drop?
It is scavenged, with no confirmed container that always holds it. Loot residential and office containers and check bodies. The Groundbreaking quest also routes you to this door and is a documented way to end up with the key.
What is inside the Communication Tower key room?
One room holding a weapons crate, a grenade case, three black materials boxes, residential and valuable drawers, several breachable computer cabinets, and loose medical, mechanical and electronics items. A good clear has been reported at roughly 30,000 to 40,000 coins.
Is the Communication Tower key worth it?
Worth it if you are already working the north of the map, especially during the Groundbreaking quest, since Northern Gate Extract is close. It is a solid mid tier room rather than a jackpot, and a lot of the value sits behind breachable lids that cost you time in a contested POI.
