Short answer
Where to find it and where to use it
Our map marks the locked door inside the Hospital footprint in the north of Buried City. The Market Ruins sit immediately north of it, so if you have crossed the Market Ruins heading south, the next large structure you see is the one you want. The Hospital reads as a hospital from the outside, which makes it easy to navigate to without checking your map twice.
The key is a random drop, and it is worth stating that plainly: there is no route that forces a Hospital Key to spawn. Sources that have farmed it describe it coming out of residential interiors, desks, drawers, storage furniture, backpacks, and general containers, and off players you kill. One documented run found theirs at the Ruby Residence apartments on Dam Battlegrounds, a different map entirely. Keys travel, so carry any Buried City key you find elsewhere back into your stash.
Two things reportedly push the odds up: amber and orange loot zones rather than green ones, and night raids. The Hospital block itself sits in an orange loot zone, which is the same tier that makes it a reasonable place to hunt for the key while you are already there.
For routing, come in from the north off the Market Ruins side, or take the Underground Metro if your spawn puts you closer to the middle of the map. The Hospital has a lower entrance with a staircase, and there is a zipline that some players use to skip the ground floor entirely. Whichever you take, the interior corridor loops, so it is easy to walk a full circle and end up where you started.
What it unlocks
One small locked room in the north west corner of the Hospital, on the upper floors.
Be aware of a genuine disagreement in the sources on which floor that is. The wiki lists the room on the second floor. Two separate guides that have actually run it call it the third floor. That is almost certainly a counting difference over whether the ground level counts as floor one, not two different rooms. In practice: climb two flights from the lower entrance and work the north west corner.
The route the guides describe once you are up there is consistent. Take the stairs up, turn left down the long corridor, go through the room with the red lockers, exit the far side, and the locked door is immediately on your right. If you hit a dead end, you have gone one loop too far around the corridor ring.
What is inside
A small room with roughly ten search points. It is a medical space, so the containers match: medical cabinets, bags, and compact storage units rather than safes and weapon crates.
One fully documented run pulled the following out of it:
| Item | Type |
|---|---|
| Il Toro II | Shotgun |
| Vita Shot Blueprint | Blueprint |
| Vita Shot | Quick use item |
| Red Coral Jewelry | Trinket |
| Film Reel | Trinket |
| Dam Control Tower Key | Epic key |
That is one raid, not a guarantee. Loot is rerolled every time the room resets. What that table is genuinely useful for is showing the shape of the room's output: consumables, crafting materials, mid-tier weapons, trinkets, and occasionally another key. It is a solid room, not a jackpot room.
Is it worth the detour
Only if you are already routing through the Hospital. Most guides rank this key mid table for exactly that reason.
The room itself is fine. It clears fast, and the loot reliably covers the cost of the trip. The problem is everything around it. The Hospital is an orange loot zone, it is one of the highest traffic buildings on Buried City, and it draws both ARC units and other Raiders in numbers. You are climbing two flights inside a contested building with looping corridors and limited sightlines, which is the exact shape of fight that goes badly for solos.
The straight recommendation: bank the key, then use it on a raid where the Hospital was already on your route. Do not cross half of Buried City for it, and do not push into a Hospital you can already hear fighting in. It is a good room attached to a bad neighbourhood.
How keys work in Arc Raiders
Keys in Arc Raiders are consumables, not tools. Four rules cover everything you need to know before you carry one into a raid.
- Every key is single use. It is consumed the moment the door opens. One key equals one room, so a second run at the same door means a second key.
- Keys are lost on death. If a Raider drops you on the way there, the key is on your body with the rest of your bag. The only way it survives a death is in your Safe Pocket.
- Locked rooms reset between raids. The room refills every raid, so it never goes stale. Stack keys and run the same door over and over.
- Keys come out of containers and off players. Cabinets, drawers, desks, and lockers are the sources, along with anyone you kill who was carrying one. There is no guaranteed spawn shelf, so the honest advice is to loot every drawer on the way past.

Frequently asked questions
- Where is the Buried City Hospital Key in Arc Raiders?
- It is marked inside the Hospital block in the north of Buried City, just south of the Market Ruins. The key itself is a Rare random drop from containers and from other players, so there is no guaranteed spawn point.
- What floor is the Hospital Key room on?
- The north west corner of the Hospital's upper floors. The wiki calls it the second floor and two run guides call it the third, which is a ground floor counting difference. Climb two flights from the lower entrance and work the north west corner.
- What is the route to the locked Hospital room?
- Take the stairs up, turn left down the long corridor, pass through the room with the red lockers, exit the far side, and the locked door is immediately on your right.
- Is the Hospital Key worth using?
- Worth it if the Hospital is already on your route. The room has around ten search points of medical containers and clears fast, but the Hospital is an orange loot zone with heavy ARC and player traffic, so it is not worth crossing the map for.
- Can I keep the Hospital Key if I die?
- Only if it is in your Safe Pocket. Anything else in your bag drops with your body, so move the key into the Safe Pocket the moment you find it.
