Solo raiding in Arc Raiders is the ultimate test of skill. No teammates to revive you, no one to watch your back. Here is how to thrive alone Topside.

The Solo Mindset

As a solo player, information is your greatest weapon. You cannot win a straight 1v3 fight against a coordinated squad, so do not take one. Your advantages are stealth, speed, and unpredictability. Move quietly, loot efficiently, and vanish before anyone knows you were there. The community calls this playstyle "ratting" and there is nothing wrong with it when you are outnumbered.

Solo Loadout

Primary: Venator or Vulcano (versatile at all ranges)

Backup: Burletta (high per-shot damage for finishing)

Armor: Best vest and helmet you can afford to lose

Backpack: Tactical Backpack (always)

Gadgets: Firecracker (mandatory), Smoke Grenade x2, Binoculars (if available)

Healing: Advanced Medkit x1, Bandage x3

The Firecracker is non-negotiable for solo play. Deploy it covering your back while looting and you will never get surprised. Smoke Grenades are your emergency escape button.

Movement and Stealth

Crouch-walk whenever you are inside buildings. Sound is the number one way players and ARC machines detect you. Sprint only in open areas where you have clear sightlines.

Stick to edges and corners of the map. The center of any map is where squads fight. Let them battle it out and swoop in to loot the aftermath. This "vulture" strategy is highly effective for solo players.

Never loot a body without first scanning the area for the dead player's teammates. They are probably nearby waiting for exactly this.

ARC Machine Management

Avoid ARC encounters when possible. Every shot you fire reveals your position. If you must fight, use a Compensator to minimize your sound signature. Gas Grenades let you disable machines and slip past without firing.

Surveyors are your biggest threat as a solo player. They fly overhead and mark your position, causing reinforcements to converge on you. Shoot them immediately or hide until they pass. One Surveyor call can end your run.

Extraction Strategy

Always have two extraction plans. If your primary extraction is camped or has ARC activity, you need a fallback route. On Buried City, the Subway Exit is the best solo extraction because it requires map knowledge that most squads lack.

Time your extractions. Avoid extracting during the first 5 minutes (when everyone is still in the area) or the last 2 minutes (when desperation makes players aggressive). The middle of the raid timer is the safest window.

Maps for Solo Players

Dam Battlegrounds: Best for learning. Open sightlines let you spot threats early.

Buried City: Best for experienced solos. The metro tunnels offer uncontested loot routes.

Spaceport: Moderate difficulty. Good loot but tight spaces favor squads.

Stella Montis: Expert only. The ARC density makes solo runs extremely dangerous.
