Arc Raiders Turret Guide: Weak Point, Ammo and Counters

The Turret is the stationary indoor ARC gun that keeps firing at your last position. What gives it away, where to shoot it, what ammo to bring, and when to leave.

What the Turret actually is

A Turret is a stationary ARC gun emplacement fixed inside buildings across the Rust Belt. The primary wiki calls it "the patient dispenser of rapid-fire punishment," a sweeping scanner paired with a gun that unleashes barrages of bullets. It does not chase and it does not flank. The fight comes down to whether you saw it before it saw you.

Threat tier is moderate. Dexerto lists it at 80 health with no armor and a projectile attack, and Immortalboost rates it medium priority, below recon callers and heavy assault units. It is one of the softest machines on the ARC roster. Lore adds that Turrets are speculated to deploy and mount themselves autonomously, to an unknown extent.

How you know one is there

The scanner emits visible light, and that light is the tell. Attentive raiders spot the beam and route around the room.

We will not tell you what color that beam is. The primary wiki, Fextralife and the other reliable pages say "visible light" and nothing more, the one page that names a color also calls the Turret armored (which every other source contradicts), and the blue-to-red scanner flip you may have read about is documented for Sentinels, not Turrets.

The machine learning people associate with ARC does not touch this machine. Embark scoped the learned system to locomotion on legged robots and leapers, and a mounted gun has no locomotion, so anything you read about a Turret recovering from knockdowns is invented. Our ARC AI explainers cover the split.

How it attacks

Once it locks on it fires a constant stream of bullets for moderate damage: suppressive fire on anything entering its area of control, continuing until the player is dead or gone from its field of view.

What kills people is the part after you break line of sight. It keeps firing at your last known location for a short time, and no source publishes a duration, sweep period, cone angle or detection range. There are no damage numbers either, only moderate damage and "can kill you in seconds," so assume standing in the stream kills you and do not try to out-trade it in the open.

Where to shoot it

Anywhere. The weight of the sources says the Turret has no weak point and the whole unit is soft: no armor plating, destroyed quickly by a few well-aimed shots. The Game Post's dedicated hidden weak point guide covers 11 other machines and gives the Turret no entry at all.

A minority of sites name the body behind the barrel. One of those pages also lists the Turret as armored, contradicting the primary wiki and every other source, so treat it as low confidence and put rounds in center mass. You can shoot the scanner too, but there is no reason to: destroying it first is not necessary, and killing the Turret does the job.

What to bring

The Turret carries Unarmored Plating, the matte white tier where all weapons are semi-effective. It is the one common ARC where the ammo penetration rule relaxes and whatever you are already carrying works.

No special kit required. Our loadouts and items pages are for the rest of the roster, where ammo tier genuinely gates you.

The mistake that gets people killed

Re-peeking too early, into the last-known-position fire. Four independent guides converge on this.

Break line of sight, then wait a beat. The Turret is still shooting the spot you left. Let the burst finish and take the lull: peek discipline matters more than raw aim here, because the opening is the lull and not the burst.

For quests, one more: the small indoor Turret is not the large outdoor rooftop turret, and killing the wrong one is reported not to satisfy Turret-specific objectives. That is a single lower-tier source, so watch your quest counter.

Where they spawn

Indoors, never open ground. The lore places them in buildings all over the Rust Belt in generous numbers, and Overgear frames placement as loot-gated: defensive units scattered through medium and high value loot areas.

Dexerto's list, the only structured one we found, names Dam Battlegrounds, The Spaceport, Buried City, The Blue Gate and Stella Montis. Riven Tides is the one live map missing from it, and Riven Tides shipped later in Patch 1.26.0 on April 28, 2026, so that list may simply predate the map. Treat Riven Tides as unresolved. Zone layouts are on our maps pages.

Worth fighting?

Yes if you see it first, no if it sees you first. The sources split along exactly that line.

Destroying one awards 100 XP and scavenging it awards 200 XP, cheap for a machine that dies to about two heavy rounds. Reported drops include Light Ammo, ARC Powercell, ARC Alloy, gun parts (the wiki says Simple, Dexerto says Light), ARC Synthetic Resin and ARC Thermo Lining. Nobody publishes drop rates and the lists disagree at the margins, so expect common ARC components rather than a payday. Our keep or sell tool covers what those are worth.

Against that, the loot is common and the cleanest play is spotting the beam and never entering its arc. Kill it when it blocks a route, when you want components for crafting and base upgrades, or when a quest such as The Right Tool requires it. Otherwise a different hallway is a legitimate answer.

What nobody has confirmed

Stated plainly, because a gap beats a guess: the scanner's color, its sweep timing, cone angle and range, how long the last-known-position fire lasts, damage per bullet or per second, drop rates, whether Turrets spawn on Riven Tides, which patch introduced the Turret, whether one has ever been changed by a patch, and whether shooting one draws other ARC or other players. If you see any of that stated as fact elsewhere, ask where the number came from.

Frequently asked questions

What is the Turret's weak point in ARC Raiders?
Most sources agree it does not have one. The Turret carries no armor plating, the whole unit is soft, and a few well-aimed shots of any ammo type destroy it, which is why the dedicated hidden weak point guides skip it entirely. A minority of sites name the body behind the barrel, but one of those pages also calls the Turret armored, which every other source contradicts, so aim center mass instead of hunting for a crit spot.
What ammo should you use on a Turret in ARC Raiders?
Whatever you are already holding. The Turret has Unarmored Plating, the tier where all weapons are semi-effective, so even light ammo hurts it despite being useless against the gunmetal armored plating on other machines. If you want it dead fast, the wiki's own tip is to bait its burst from cover and hit it with heavy ammo, which usually takes two shots. Explosives work too, and an impact grenade thrown directly onto it is reported to detonate on contact.
Why does the Turret keep shooting after I break line of sight?
That is intended behavior, not a bug. When you leave its line of sight, a Turret keeps firing at your last known location for a short time, and re-peeking into that fire is the most common way players die to a machine this weak. No source publishes how long the suppression lasts, so the practical rule is to let the burst finish, wait a beat longer than feels necessary, then take the lull.
How do you spot a Turret before it spots you?
Look for the scanner light, and look upward. Turrets are placed inconspicuously inside Topside structures, on ceilings and on the inner walls of elevator shafts, and their scanner emits a visible light that attentive raiders can see and route around. Detection is beam-gated, meaning a Turret only notices you once you enter its scanning beam, but it reacts instantly when you do. No reliable source states what color that beam is, so treat the color claims repeated online as unverified.
Which maps have Turrets in ARC Raiders?
The only structured spawn list we found names Dam Battlegrounds, The Spaceport, Buried City, The Blue Gate and Stella Montis. Riven Tides is the one live map absent from that list, and since Riven Tides shipped later in Patch 1.26.0 on April 28, 2026, the list may simply predate the map, so treat Riven Tides as unresolved. Wherever they appear, Turrets are indoor machines concentrated around medium and high value loot rather than out in the open.
Are Turrets worth killing in ARC Raiders?
Kill one if you saw it first, skip it if it saw you first. Destroying a Turret awards 100 XP and scavenging it awards 200 XP, and it can drop common ARC components such as ARC Powercell, ARC Alloy, ARC Synthetic Resin and ARC Thermo Lining, which are useful for crafting and base upgrades. The loot is common rather than valuable, so unless it blocks your route or a quest such as The Right Tool demands it, avoiding its scanner entirely is a perfectly good answer.
