The Queen is a boss tier ARC, and the only machine TheGamer rates above her is the Matriarch. She exists only while the Harvester map condition is active, guarding the structure at one fixed spot. No Harvester, no Queen, and nobody has published the rotation that decides when the condition is up.
Where she spawns
Harvester condition only. The wiki: she "can only be found guarding Harvesters when the relevant Map Modifier is active."
Three maps carry it, at a fixed location on each: Dam Battlegrounds, Spaceport and The Blue Gate. Two independent sources list those three and nothing else, neither naming Stella Montis nor Riven Tides, and the wiki was edited after Riven Tides shipped, so that gap looks real rather than stale. Layouts are on the maps pages.
She is launch content, not a later addition: Embark's pre-launch primer from October 13 2025 already has her defending the Harvester.
How you know one is there
Six legs, a dome on top, and enormous. PC Gamer calls her "the largest Arc currently in the game." The Codex opens with "The Queen is a massive, six-legged beast, often spotted guarding Harvesters," then floats a lineage carefully: "It is speculated the Queen shares kinship with the First Wave's Baron." Speculation, in the game's words.
How she moves, and why Embark keeps patching it
Embark's ML research lead Martin Singh-Blom says the studio's learning work is "strictly for locomotion," how a machine places its feet and moves. He named the Leaper, not the Queen, so read that as likely rather than confirmed. More in the AI hub.
Her footwork is still being tuned, unusual for a boss this old:
- Patch 1.29.0, May 19 2026: Queen and Matriarch "step over things" more often instead of through them, cutting unfair knockback.
- Live Update 1.33.0, June 16 2026: both can "plant their feet in more varied terrain," and stand on moving surfaces.
- Live Update 1.36.0, July 7 2026: stomp knockback no longer passes through walls.
None of those three touches her damage or health. She can also be flipped: PC Gamer filmed one knocked over by a launching ARC Probe.
Her attack set
- Mortars: 2 to 5 fired from the dome, landing around you and exploding into fire two seconds after they land. That delay is the trap.
- Laser: fired periodically at anyone in line of sight, leaving the ground scorched. Beebom rates it the hardest hitting ARC attack in the game.
- Up close: she switches between an EMP pulse and a ground slam, unpredictably. Melee range is the worst place to stand.
- Area denial: if she is near the Harvester while you loot it, she fires the laser into a node on top, electrocuting everyone inside.
Where to shoot
Her named weak points are the core and the leg joints. The wiki's rule for every ARC is that damage to a weak point lands directly and bypasses armor, and that weak points should be the priority when attacking. So work it in this order:
- Hit the matte bright yellow points on her leg joints. They are exposed from the start and need no setup.
- Strip the armor plates off the body when you have an angle on it. The shiny dark gray plating comes off.
- Shoot the red glowing core once it is showing.
The wiki lists those as parallel tips rather than a fixed sequence, so treat it as a priority order, not a script.
Deadline works on her head or the exposed core: an Epic quick use mine, 1,000 damage on a fixed six second timer, and one blast can strike several parts of a machine at once.
Beebom's close range route: Showstopper to stun, then Snap Hook on and hit the head core point blank. Two warnings. PC Gamer says ARC flick riders off with a barrel roll, and Embark's own 1.36.0 known issues list says "Shots taken while riding ARC may not register correctly."
What to bring
Ammo decides this fight, not raw damage. The wiki: "Rounds with or above Moderate ARC Armor Penetration are needed to damage Armored Plating as anything below Moderate will bounce off."
The penetration stat on individual weapon pages gives this ladder:
- Light (Kettle): Very Weak
- Shotgun (Il Toro): Weak
- Medium (Osprey): Moderate
- Heavy (Bettina, Anvil): Strong
- Launcher (Hullcracker): Very Strong
- Energy Clip (Jupiter, Equalizer): Very Strong
That is assembled from six weapon pages, not a published ammo table, so treat it as the shape rather than gospel. Read the bounce rule as narrowly as the wiki writes it, too: it is a statement about armored plating, the shiny dark gray panels. The same page says weak points take direct damage regardless, and that every weapon is at least semi-effective against unarmored plating. Nobody has tested Light or Shotgun ammo on the Queen specifically. The safe read: if you plan to work the body, bring Heavy, Launcher or Energy Clip, with Medium the lowest tier that gets through plating at all. Her yellow leg joints stay hittable whatever you are carrying.
Two guns earn their slot. The Hullcracker fires explosive projectiles that only detonate when hitting ARC. The Jupiter's projectiles penetrate ARC armor and damage everything in their path, weak spots included. Beebom pairs a Hullcracker with a Venator, plus Wolfpack grenades and a Showstopper.
Build the kit on the loadouts planner, and check what her parts are worth on keep or sell.
Nobody agrees on her health
Four sources, four numbers. The wiki says 23,000 and footnotes its own figure as an unreliable estimate, Beebom says 22,000, Dexerto lists roughly 33,864 (about 21,000 routed through weak points), and PC Gamer says roughly 33,000. The two independent figures near 33,000 are the best anchor available. No official or datamined number exists, so distrust anyone quoting one as fact.
The mistake that gets people killed
Fighting her in the open, at range, dumping rounds into the armored body. Three errors stack.
- Wrong ammo for the target. Below Moderate penetration bounces off her plating, so a Light or Shotgun magazine emptied into the body accomplishes nothing.
- Wrong target. The armored body is not the target. The yellow leg joints and the exposed core are.
- Wrong ground. Beebom: "it is better to stay behind cover always. That is why fighting from inside buildings is the best option." Mortars leave burning ground and the laser is the hardest hitting ARC attack, so open ground means eating both.
Second mistake, free to fix: take your shield off before the Harvester's core sequence. Her Electrical Surge only depletes shields and stuns briefly, so it cannot kill. Unequipped, it does nothing at all.
When to just leave
Usually. Embark says so in its own primer: "Taking on the Queen will most likely lead to a quick defeat, but for a seasoned Raider there's always a way."
The Harvester's headline reward does not need her dead. Its core sequence (three fusion cores inserted in quick succession, then twelve yellow targets destroyed) yields one to three Equalizer or Jupiter blueprints. She patrols around that puzzle, she does not lock it, and her one contribution is the Electrical Surge you already know how to cancel.
The case for fighting her is the payout: 1,000 XP for destroying her, another 1,000 for scavenging the core, 500 per leg, and a 14 item drop pool headed by the Legendary Queen Reactor. Kill her and the Harvester is safe to loot at your own pace. Beebom, TheGamer and PC Gamer all treat it as a coordinated squad job.
Last thing. The one grenade Queen kill you still see going around was a Blaze Grenade Trap bug, fixed in patch 1.2.0 on November 13 2025. History, not advice. More machine breakdowns in the guides index.

Frequently asked questions
- Where does the Queen spawn in Arc Raiders?
- The Queen only appears while the Harvester map condition is active, guarding the Harvester structure at one fixed location on the map. Sources list three maps that run it: Dam Battlegrounds, Spaceport and The Blue Gate. If the Harvester condition is not active on your raid, there is no Queen to find.
- What is the Queen's weak point in Arc Raiders?
- Her named weak points are the core and the leg joints. Shoot the armor plates off the body to expose the red glowing core, and hit the matte yellow points on her legs, which take direct damage and bypass armor entirely. A Deadline mine on her head or on the exposed core is the cheapest single hit, because its explosion can strike several parts of a machine at once.
- What ammo do you need to hurt the Queen?
- Anything below Moderate ARC armor penetration bounces off armored plating, which rules out Light and Shotgun ammo. Medium is the floor that works at all, and Heavy, Launcher and Energy Clip are the classes that damage her body reliably. The Hullcracker and Jupiter stand out, one firing explosive rounds that only detonate on ARC, the other penetrating ARC armor and damaging everything in the shot's path.
- How much health does the Queen have in Arc Raiders?
- No confirmed number has been published. The community wiki lists 23,000 and flags its own figure as an unreliable estimate, Beebom says 22,000, and Dexerto and PC Gamer both land near 33,000, with Dexerto putting the weak point routed pool at roughly 21,000. The two independent figures near 33,000 are the best anchor available, but none of these is official or datamined.
- Do you have to kill the Queen to loot the Harvester?
- No. The Harvester's blueprint reward comes from its own core sequence, and the Queen patrols around that puzzle rather than gating it. Her one contribution to the puzzle is the Electrical Surge, which cannot kill you and is fully negated by unequipping your shield before you go inside.
- Is the Queen worth fighting in Arc Raiders?
- Only with a coordinated squad and ammo that penetrates her plating. Embark's own primer warns that taking her on "will most likely lead to a quick defeat, but for a seasoned Raider there's always a way." The payoff if you win is large: XP for the kill, the core and each leg, a drop pool headed by the Legendary Queen Reactor, and a Harvester you can then loot at your own pace.
